i understand that not everyone can donate rn even if they really wanted to. i myself am currently unemployed and cannot donate much more than i already have atm !! not donating is okay - pls don’t feel guilty if you do not have the means to do so.
if donating is not a possibility right now, ive found this 1 hour video you can watch on youtube where all proceeds from the ad revenue will go to an organization to help the cause (more info in the video’s description). op has compiled songs and art from Black artists to listen to. you can leave it on to play in the background or plug in earphones and go about your business as usual. it can’t get more simple than that.
as a fandom that’s known to mass stream, it would be amazing if you could channel that energy into watching this video !!!!!
I cannot forget BTS breaking down and crying tonight– admitting that they thought of disbanding. There comes a day in every fan’s life when they realise that increasing a band’s fame, their awards, their records–is not enough to give them lasting happiness. Today is that day for me.
Today is the day I look back at every smile, every laugh, every seemingly happy moment BTS has ever shown us-and wonder at the world of pain they must have been hiding behind it.
They have been telling us, in their own way, through their concept photos– the grabbing hands, the voyeuristic cameras, the globes they enclosed themselves in, walling them off from the wider world–songs such as Reflection, Sea, Fake Love– all speak of a bitter hurt and forbidding trial.
We were too caught up in dizzying dreams of sending BTS to the topmost peak– not realising the higher the height, the greater the fall.
The life of an idol is a lonely one–filled with pressure and endless work, and I will never stop owing BTS for choosing this pain-filled fate just to bring us some joy and peace, and to spread their hopes and dreams with the world.
Let us now become aware of the magnitude of BTS’ sacrifice, and the monumental gift they give to us every day by choosing to stay together, to fight against the darkest of their demons, to keep dreaming, to keep doing their damndest to perform to the best of their abilities–and let us vow to help them understand that their happiness is what matters most.
We acknowledge your strength and suffering, BTS. We see you for who you are–the real you– not just the smiling facade this industry forces you to put on–hurting, broken, flawed–still persevering. Still shining. Still beautiful.
A fierce ache and a fierce pride fills my heart today–as it fills theirs.
People who say Legally Blonde isn’t feminist enough because the main character is super girly make me angry. I mean how do you miss the point that bad? The entire idea is that you shouldn’t judge people by appearances.
Elle Woods was always smart. The movie establishes she made good grades in undergrad and scored high on the LSAT. She also doesn’t seem to have much trouble keeping up with the coursework when she starts at Harvard (after a few hiccups in the first weeks). Elle was also always compassionate. She can’t stand injustice. She helps Paulette because she’s being taken advantage of, she fiercely fights for a woman she’s convinced is innocent, she stands up to sexual harassment.
The only thing that significantly changed about her character was that she gained a sense of self-worth and realized that Warner was a jerk and that she deserved better. Elle never changed who she was, she just proved that who she was was enough to accomplish her goals. She was wealthy, blonde, and girly, so most people wrote her off as being stupid and bitchy, even though she was never those things. She didn’t have to “act like a man“ to get ahead, she was fully herself every perfume scented, pink page step of the way.
thinking about life & its twists and turns today……a lot for an armadillo to deal with but i’ll be okay………….
